Goloka use in Mining site location, ownership data and verification (Environment case study)

Case Study

  • Our Client: The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) won the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Powering Just Energy Transition Green Minerals Challenge (JET Minerals Challenge), securing nearly $400,000 in funding to advance its groundbreaking mission.

CJID focused on eradicating corruption within the green mineral supply chains, a task of paramount importance in today’s global context.

  • The Problem and Impact: Specific data collection with focus on accountability was new to the client and specifics on implementation that provides actionable insights and visualisation to be planned to provided by a strategic technical partner.

  • The Solution:

Dataphyte through the use of Goloka and other technical platforms is gathering data on all major mining sites, identifying process connections of beneficial ownership data access platform to generate important ownership profiles useful for the project’s accountability and mineral mapping exercise.

A key component of this exercise is the verification of the location of mining sites and collect the relevant information needed for the project’s next phase.

Real-time data collection and verification: Goloka, Dataphyte’s data collection solution, to gather on-the-ground information relating to livelihood, human rights, and the socioeconomic impacts of mining on the residents of targeted mining communities.

The monitors will receive training on how to use the Goloka tool.

Dashboard integration - we will build a Jet Minerals dashboard to present key visual data in an easy-to-digest form for various users. The dashboard will be integrated into the Udeme social account website.
